Holiday Traditions, including ornaments, foods and family gatherings evoke a heartwarming feeling for each of us.

We’d like to share a bit of what makes the Holiday special for our team, hoping to remind you of the traditions that make your Holiday Merry as well.

McKay’s Paper Gingerbread Ornaments

Each year, McKay Tripp’s mom decorated the family tree with homemade paper gingerbread people. She would meticulously cut out and stuff brown grocery sacks with cotton balls and paint the front as a representation of each person in his family. These gingerbread people adorned the tree for over 20 years at his family home. Now, each new grand-baby also receives Nanna Brynn’s special gingerbread ornament for the family tree.

The Christmas Orange is a family tradition from Peg’s childhood. Santa would leave an orange in the Christmas stocking for each child in the family.

The original Christmas Orange tradition began long ago when a Christmas orange was an extravagance reserved for the Holidays. Now the oranges are mostly chocolate, yet the tradition carried forward is a sweet reminder of family celebrations and gatherings throughout past years.

Here’s a link to her recipe.

Taylor Maw’s family completes a puzzle at Christmas. The phones are put away and they spend the hours the puzzle takes gathered together and enjoying each others company. The puzzles have been a tradition for her for over 25 years.

Santa’s Christmas Cookies
Tyler Schlegel and his fiancé, Grace, make these yummy cookies for Santa each year. Last year, Tyler burned the cookies and was given coal in his stocking! He’s learned his lesson and will set two timers this year.

The recipe for Grace & Tyler’s cookies is found here

Enjoy your holiday traditions! We wish you a very happy and joyful Holiday Season!
